The Out of Body Special is
We are THE OUT OF BODY SPECIAL. But that's just the name of the hiphop soul fusion band comprised of Los, Martin, Pat, Garon, Diego and Ted Mark. What happens when this band plays is actually what THE OUT OF BODY SPECIAL is: sweet disorientation. It's not hard at all; give it a try. You got it in you. Just get it out.

The band, completed in the last quarter of 2004, plays mostly original music, which is a soulful fusion of hiphop, R&B, jazz, funk, blues and rock, exemplifying the plethora of musical influences brought by each member to the fold. There was this obvious end since most of the members are part of other acts ; Avenido being the bassist of Greyhoundz joining drummer Cruz in The Happy Meals and jazz Kidding, Beltran provides percussions for Plane Divides The Sky, Co playing rhythm guitars for Taggu Indios and Ferdie Goes To School, Veerayah jams with the UP Long-Haired Band and Magno emcees for The Gate. Magno being an aficionado of urban music, felt that it was perceived here in an overly crystallized manner, and, finding the perfect set of people to do it with, formed a band that hopefully goes beyond set standards of genre dogma.
The band’s name, a play on the expression “an out of body experience”, connotes a certain feel of music, rather than a particular genre or style. In the corniest sense it’s suppose to hint that the band plays soul music, albeit more in vibe than in appearance. the general ambiance the group delivers is funky and soulful, no matter what type of sound they produce on each song. they ideally bring in some sort of sweet, groovy dis orientation to the listener, ergo being out of body.
It is a self-managed collective, playing regularly at different venues and functions; they are most frequently seen at Ateneo de Manila and UP Diliman campus, Gweilo’s Eastwood, 6Underground, Capones, Coriks, Magnet Katipunan, Bubblegang Toppings and Cafe Saguijo. They have an EP recorded with Eric Perlas’ Tower Of Doom Productions released last November 2005.
Their Current repertoire includes all original songs, namely “Where MY Emcees At?’ featuring Audible, “HOt Tub”, “Got Me”, “Badlands’, “Soundcheck”, “Sixty Seconds After She”, “Kamakailan Lang”, “GIve It” and “Sexy Beast”, the last five being included in their debut EP. They also cover songs from the Lil Miao Ep “Katipunera”, namely “Counting the Days” and “Mister.Man”. Other cover songs include Earth Wind and Fire’s “Sun Goddess” and Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You”.
