Jun. 23, 2009 2:09 PM 0 commentIt didn't rain, but the temperature was sizzling hot when the sexy and talented Pussycat Dolls dominated Manila at the open grounds of the Mall of Asia on June 11, 2009 for their 2nd world tour. A much-awaited return after three years, these gorgeous ladies were looking forward to giving the Filipino fans a better and history-in-the-making concert compared to their first one at Araneta Coliseum where they, themselves, felt short changed because they had fewer songs then. Now they’re out with a lot more top chart music and ready to rule!

The Philippine All-Stars showcased their hip-hopping beats as the opening act for the PCD. After eagerly waiting, at 9 o’clock, the audience was finally enthused by the vigorous performances of the Pussycat Dolls. They got the party started with "Takin’ Over the World." With "Beep" as their second number, it kept the crowd going. Nicole mentioned that she had written the next song for the ladies and that we’re beautiful as we are, the Dolls strike it on with "I Don’t Need a Man." From their sophomore album, Doll Domination, they sung "Elevator." From one of their new hits, they continued to sway the night away with "I Hate This Part." Asking the crowd to loosen up their buttons, the Pussycat Dolls played it up with "Buttons."

Introducing the group, Jessica Sutta was missed because of her back injury. Sporting a short blonde hairdo, Kimberly Wyatt is one of the foursome that rocked the fun-filled evening. Ashley Roberts, with long blonde locks, gave a big ‘mwah!’ to all the PCD lovers. Screaming out ‘Manila!’ was Melody Thornton, the baby Doll, who took lead in some parts. As the leader of the Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger yearned for a louder scream for being a fellow Pinay. Obviously a favorite of everybody, with big star earrings, Nicole openly expressed feeling like she belongs right in her biological father’s homeland. With all of her heart, she said, "Mahal ko kayo!"

With remixes integrated into the songs mid-way through, the Dolls grinded to their hit songs one after the other, wowing the enjoying crowd more and more. "Wait a minute" was up next. Then as the other Dolls prepped up backstage, Nicole performed a solo, "Halo," as she walked down the stairs with a dark veil on her head. Toward the song’s end, Nicole proved her vocal prowess by being operatic in reaching the very high notes. During the course of the hot evening, suddenly, paramedics rushed somebody through the crowd in a stretcher. It was indeed a scorching night. That did not stop the fans from firing it up more. You can even see some of the audience members decked out in their best Pussycat Dolls outfit. The three Dolls followed up, ala-cabaret style, headed by Melody in bringing back their early days at the Viper Room in Sunset Strip, Los Angeles California. It is now known as the Pussycat Dolls Lounge. With Nicole donning leather pants, the Dolls pumped it up with "Whatcha Think About That." On to "Bottle Pop," the audience was highly impressed with the Dolls’ split move. There was more hot dancing craze. As an intermission, 3 girls were brought on stage to strut their stuff. The one wearing orange top, no. 2, won by unanimous vote of the huge crowd.

Another costume change for Nicole, in silver glittery attire with hoodie and purple brassiere, they sang "Hush Hush" mixed with the lively song "I Will Survive." The Dolls extended their warm thank yous to their crew, sponsors, and fellow PCD sisters. Nicole declared her pride in being a Filipina. She inspired everyone, all her Filipino dreamers out there, to keep dreaming as she is living proof of making her dreams a reality --- "Believe in God. Believe in yourself." Most especially, as a big thank you to the fans for sharing the starry night and for sticking with the Dolls, they dedicated "Stickwitu" to all. Being ever the romantics, the whole Pinoy audience was singing every lyric of the sweet song. The Pussycat Dolls felt the love in the air. Waving their byes by 10 o’clock and saying, "We’ll see you soon," they came back with more in store.

Spiking up the crowd’s fever higher with "Don’t Cha," the Pussycat Dolls continued to propel the stage further with their all-out ‘hataw!’ dance moves. With a bit of rapping, Nicole by then was wearing a spunky white hoodie. Next, from Oscar-winner "Slumdog Millionaire" theme, everybody gamely chanted to "Jai Ho!" Throughout the show, they always mentioned "Manila!" letting us know we’re worth remembering. For their finale, the Dolls popped it hard with "When I Grow Up."

It’s a wrap for one big hot night by the Pussycat Dolls! Can I say hot again? HOT! They bowed out at 10:15 along with beautiful fireworks illuminating the sky.
