For the last 7 years, Nuncyspungen have been relentless in the pursuit of unbound musical expression. Freeing themselves from the shackles of local city music rivalries and adopting a non-territorial stance in its expansion, Nuncyspungen has kept its integrity and dignity. Starting from Cagayan de Oro, capturing and being adopted as one of its own in Cebu, and breaking through into the self-centered and erstwhile impenetrable Manila Scene with label mates Urbandub; Nuncyspungen draws its strengths not from populist methods but through critical acclaim from its musically-inclined following. Gaining the respect of fellow musicians all throughout the Philippines, Nuncyspungen remains the musicians band.
Known for their eclectic stage performance and dark undertones, Nuncyspungen never pushes the music down your throat but invites you to sit down and listen. The more one listens, the more the weight and gravity of their music bears down. Nuncyspungen demands patience, but the rewards are self-explanatory.
Having released their debut album under lighter records last 2002, Nuncyspungen have been honored with a NU107 In-the-Raw Nomination, and have been invited to play at the PULP Summer Slam in 2005,MYX live, and MTV Siesta Sessions thru Fiestamundo while promoting the album.
The Bands latest effort sees them regaining their strengths after some critical departures in the bands lineup. The unfortunate loss of Lourd Magto, Abe Billano(both re-located) and Chuck Bollozos,has left the two original members and main songwriters in a frenzy. Arming themselves with an arsenal of veteran musicians in the CDO Indie scene, Jedi dela Cruz(myspace.com/eyestoobig,Red Whiskey),Jonah Booc(Karma,Ruska,Run Lucy Run,Pigsqueal) and John Geroy (swerve,16deep),the band has picked itself up and has kept the nuncy spirit alive, A months work in the garage of Phils DAW setup and a budget of less than 500 Pesos ,the band has found the freedom to express true Indie grit. The result, EXIT MUSIC, Nuncys latest EP.6 songs that speak from the heart, true emotion about the bands turbulent existence and fight for survival. The album speaks of betrayal, loss, anger, honour, bravery, attention deficiency, fame, popularity and heartbreak without any apologies.
