About Me: Hatched during a night of recording (and possibly some alcohol-binging), the idea for Kerplunk! Productions was literally conceived in an old basement in Libis, where the then-little-known Kerplunk! Studios was formerly located. The brainchild of sound/multimedia engineers and Dry as Dre punk-mates Pat Jalbuena and Greg Garcia, K! Productions aimed to serve the underground music scene by providing a venue and calling on untapped yet skilled musicians in the industry to exhibit their talent and music while giving the audience more than what they came for. On June 16, 2004 Kerplunk! held its very first production in the now-defunct Peligro in Makati City. "To Planes" featured Sound, Cousin Ed (now known as Teardrop), Hopscotch, Sundown Muse, Black Tooth Grin and Marty McFly. After the closure of Peligro, Kerplunk! found an immediate affinity to the unpretentious aura that Saguijo had. After all, much like Saguijo, Kerplunk! has always been about nothing else but the music. Fittingly enough, Kerplunk!'s first night at Saguijo (June 1, 2005) was also its first anniversary as a production outfit. Bands that played in 2005's K! nights was an eclectic mix of indie luminaries that exceled in their respective genres: Boldstar, Pinas, The Bitter Pill, Teardrop, Angulo, Delinquents, Monkeyspank, Severo, If Disco Is A Crime..., Neruda, Maryzark, 13 Needles, Moyg, Dry as Dre, Coffeebreak Island, Milagros Dancehall Collective, and Boy Elroy. Now-popular bands such as Hale, Menaya, and Join the Club also appeared in K! Nights before they were big. It has also showcased current industry sensations Ciudad, Dicta License, Twisted Hal o, Up Dharma Down, Drip, Daydream Cycle, Pedicab, Sponge Cola, Typecast, Mayonnaise, and Sandwich; as well as rock icons Greyhoundz, Queso, Kamikazee, and Chicosci in its productions. Some of Cebu's finest bands The Ambassadors, Sheila and the Insects, and Urbandub, currently graces K! Productions whenever possible. 2005 also saw Kerplunk!'s first commercial production projects. It conceptualized and executed one of the year's most successful bar tours as Motorola's Rock Mo'To featured 50 of the country's biggest bands divided into genre and performing in 10 different venues across Metro Manila and Cebu. Kerplunk! Productions also took pride in cooperating with Lighter Press & Records for Urbandub's wildly successful Embrace Album Tour to end the year. With the K! recording studio affiliate having moved to a permanent office in Makati and almost ready to unleash its first major materials out to an unsuspecti ng public, Kerplunk! Productions approaches its 2nd year aspiring to live up to its goal of not only providing a dynamic relationship between its shows and its audience, but equally important, between the people behind it and the musicians themselves. Not bad for an alcohol-induced idea devised in a little old basement..
